Israeli occupation forces stated they will release the head of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Dr. Aziz Dweik On Monday, July 16th.
Dweik’s office said that Israeli authorities would release him from the Israeli prison of Ofer on Thursday, July 19th.
Israeli military court informed Dweik’s lawyer, Fadi al-Qawasmi, about an approval not to renew Dweik’s detention after he had finished six months of administrative detention.
Al-Qawasmi submitted a request asking for the release of Dweik six months ago, due to his wife’s health dangerous condition; she has cancer and was transferred to Jordan for treatment.
Israeli forces arrested Aziz Dweik on january 19th, 2012 at Jaba checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, while he was coming from Ramallah.
The Israeli authorities issued a decision to put him in administrative detention for six months.
Israeli forces still hold 21 other MPs under administrative detention, and two of these MPs are still in the interrogation centre in al-Moskobiyeh.
